For Leslie Davis, joining The Network as Director of Communications feels a lot like coming home. A Pikesville native and Towson University alumna, Leslie recently returned to Maryland after 34 years in the Midwest, bringing with her decades of experience in storytelling, relationship-building, and creating communications that connect people. Now, she’s putting that experience to work sharing The Network’s mission, programs, and impact while reconnecting with the Jewish community that helped shape her.
Leslie’s communications career began in broadcast journalism, where she worked at television stations in Baltimore, Hagerstown, and Saginaw, Michigan. She later transitioned to corporate communications, working with global companies including Dow Corning and O-I Glass.
Throughout her career, one theme has remained constant: using communication to bring people together.
That’s part of what drew Leslie to The Network.
“The Director of Communications role immediately caught my attention because it combines the work I love most: connecting people, building relationships, and creating communications that make a meaningful impact,” Leslie says.
For Leslie, communications is about more than sharing information. It’s about building trust, creating engagement, and helping people feel connected to a shared purpose.
Leslie’s return to Baltimore has also brought an opportunity to reconnect with her Jewish identity.
Growing up, Jewish life was an important part of her family. Her father was deeply involved with Greenspring Synagogue, and Jewish learning and traditions were woven into her childhood. After her father died, however, those traditions gradually became less present in her life.
Over the years, Leslie felt increasingly disconnected from Judaism. Coming home has begun to change that.
“Returning to Jewish Baltimore has reminded me just how close-knit, warm, and welcoming this community truly is,” she says.
Many of Leslie’s longtime friends still live in the area and are active in the Jewish community. Reconnecting with them has strengthened her own connection to Judaism and added another layer of meaning to her return home.
Ask Leslie about her sons, and you may be there for a while.
Leslie is the proud mom of Stefan, 26, and Seth, 24, and says she could happily talk about them for hours.
“They are my greatest source of pride and joy,” she says. “Watching them grow into thoughtful, respectful, funny, and talented young men has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life.”
She loves watching them create their own paths, celebrating their successes, learning from their perspectives, and taking every opportunity she can to spend time with them.
And there’s one more story Leslie has up her sleeve.
During her broadcast journalism days at a television station in Saginaw, Michigan, Leslie had the opportunity to interview someone she had watched on television for years: Oprah Winfrey. And she didn’t interview her just once. She got to do it twice!
It’s one of the many memorable experiences Leslie has collected throughout a communications career that has taken her from local television to global companies and, now, back home to Baltimore.
As she settles into her role at The Network, Leslie is excited to use those experiences to tell the stories that bring people together. And while she’s helping others find meaningful ways to connect, she’s rediscovering what makes Jewish Baltimore feel like home.
