Delivery Driver at Weekend Backpacks

Drop off bagged meals and groceries to city schools for students and families experiencing food insecurity. Weekend Backpacks delivers bagged meals to food-insecure students and their families to last a weekend.

Commitment

Weekly is preferred; deliveries take place Thursdays and Fridays, between 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Each driver spends between 90 min-2 hours in total, depending on the school. Pick up takes place in Pikesville.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers must able to lift at least 10 pounds and help school employees with delivery (which may include unloading bags). Deliveries usually include 30 bags. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and a car that is able to hold 40 grocery bags. Volunteers MUST be comfortable with city driving. One-hour virtual introduction/training required.
