This month’s book: Looking for Jane by Heather Marshall
About the Book: Looking for Jane is a historical fiction novel about three women in Toronto, spanning from the 1960s to the 2010s, whose lives intertwine through family secrets and a clandestine underground network providing illegal abortions, known as “Jane,” before reproductive rights were legal in Canada, exploring themes of motherhood, choice, and resilience. The story connects Angela (2017), who finds a mysterious letter; Evelyn (1970s), a doctor forced to give up a baby; and Nancy (1980s), who seeks help from the network, revealing devastating consequences and buried truths about reproductive justice.
