What is a packing party? 

A packing party is a 60–90 minute, hands-on volunteer event held right in your neighborhood! It’s a fun and meaningful way to connect with your community while doing good. Together, we’ll pack 2,500 winter care packages filled with hand-knit hats and scarves, a cozy pair of Bombas socks, assorted toiletries, snacks and games and toys for children.

Who do the completed winter care packages go to? 

The Jewish Connection Network partners with dozens of non-profit organizations across greater Baltimore who support individuals experiencing housing insecurity, food insecurity, limited access to education and medical care and more. The winter care packages are delivered to 18 of those partners throughout the month of December, providing a bit of warmth and joy during the holiday season.

What if I can’t make the packing party in my neighborhood? 

This December, we are hosting six packing parties across Baltimore City and County. You can find us in Pikesville, Baltimore City, Roland Park, Reisterstown, Owings Mills and Lutherville-Timonium. You are welcome to join us at whichever packing party works best for you!

Can I/my child get service hours for participating in a packing party? 

We are more than happy to provide you/your child with service hours! A QR code linking to a service hour request form will be available at each packing party.

How can I get more involved in Mitzvah Month? 

Mitzvah Month is more than just packing parties – it’s a month-long celebration of service! Join us on Christmas Eve/Day serving a meal directly to people experiencing food insecurity, at the Maryland Science Center planetarium for family Havdalah, or help deliver winter care packages to our non-profit partners.
