Joshua Zommick believes that some of the best connections begin by simply showing up. Whether he’s volunteering, celebrating Jewish holidays or attending young adult experiences, he loves finding opportunities to build relationships and create meaningful moments with others. Get to know Joshua and what inspires him to stay connected to Jewish Baltimore.
How did you get connected to The Network?
One of the first volunteering events I participated in with The Network was a winter care package packing party at Bolton Street Synagogue during Chanukah. The members of the synagogue were all so excited to volunteer after a beautiful candle lighting and hot cocoa station. It was like the vibrant energy in the room oscillated with each and every smile. I connected with families, competitive young children and the wisest of elders. It was an experience that fills your cup and leaves such a sweet taste!
What inspires you to volunteer?
Through volunteering I find purpose. I have always been one to enjoy sharing – experiences, friendship, food, quality time, you name it and I’m game! Volunteering is all that and more. It’s love and kindness, and it goes a long way.
What’s a moment that made you feel especially connected in Jewish Baltimore?
We are so fortunate to have so many young adult programs at our fingertips and I’ve tried them all. One that particularly stands out was Shabbat under a sukkah on my 27th birthday.
Any favorite holiday memories or traditions?
I am a sucker for a snowy Chanukah filled with family, friends, and homemade latkes of course!
What’s your go-to bagel order?
Sesame bagel extra toasted, cream cheese, lox, and an iced coffee. Perfect start to a busy Saturday.
