Get to know Sammi Darmon, one of our Young Adult VolunTeam leaders! Originally from Michigan, she now works as a physician’s assistant at Baltimore’s Good Samaritan Hospital. Through The Network and the Knit & Nosh VolunTeam, Sammi has found meaningful friendships and helps create a welcoming space for young adults.
Knit & Nosh has been such a nice way to slow down. Life’s usually so go-go-go, but Knit & Nosh gives a chance to pause, be creative, and just enjoy something simple.
My biggest advice is to just say “yes.” When I first moved to Baltimore, I didn’t know many people, so I started saying yes to events and invitations; even when it felt a little outside my comfort zone. It ended up being one of the best ways to meet people and start to feel at home here.
My usual order is an egg bagel with lox, cream cheese and cucumber. Lately though I’ve been getting veggie cream cheese instead, and it might actually be becoming my new go-to.
